PLEASE - SHOW THIS TO YOUR PARENTS! WE NEED HELP

OVER THE LAST 16 YEARS AS A SCOUT LEADER I HAVE;

slept on a battleship, learned first aid, marched past Her Majesty the Queen (wow), slept in a haunted castle, organized a swimming gala for 200, camped out under the stars, made friends with people from around the world, helped 70 Scouts to get the highest award a Scout can achieve, shot rifles at Bisley, canoed down the river Severn, sung till I was horse (ow!), eaten far too many sausages, woken up in a tent stiff with frost, gone caving (eeek!), cooked for 150 people (who lived!), gone up a wooden tower to do a tightrope walk (and bottled it!!!), eaten a posh dinner at Cambridge University in a dinner jacket (wow!), taken a team of Scouts to Germany to compete in the Lego Robotics European finals, eaten frankfurters in Frankfurt, learned to navigate properly, got properly lost (and then un-lost), had hair drawn on my head in ultraviolet paint, drawn star constellations on a wall in ultraviolet paint, eaten too much Haribo (yum yum), raised money for a hospital in Malawi (hooray), driven a minibus, been driven mad in a minibus, tortured by the Screaming Goat (not in person), driven sideways in a kart, marched in the Remembrance Sunday Parade (and felt proud!), taught my son how not to chop his fingers off with an axe (and felt very proud!), all through helping over 300 Young People to Achieve!, and made some of the best friends I have ever had.

WHAT DID YOU DO?

Boreatton Scouts prides itself in being one of the most imaginative and pro-active Scout Troops in the UK (many other Scout Leaders monitor our blog for ideas), but we need help to maintain this high standard.  The Scout Association will train you (for free!), Whether you have a few hours a month to spare or can comit to more we are grateful of all help - it is entirely up to you. no pressure.  This could be the best "hobby" you will ever have - as soon as you say yes!
