A raft from a man called Thor.....Friday 16th May

A Norwegian called Thor Heyerdahl built this raft from balsa wood to cross the Pacific Ocean to see if ancient people could migrate from South America to Polynesia .  101 days at sea and eventually he crashed into a reef on one of the islands proving
a) ancient people could migrate
b) balsa wood makes a brilliant raft
c) even people with cool names can crash.

You too can build a raft and sail from PGL to the Tuamotu Islands this Friday.  Meet in the Scout hut car park at 6.30.   We will finish around 8.00.  Dress for messing around in the water, in a wet suit if you have one (no uniform necessary) and bring a change of clothes and a towel.

Ia Orana!
