Taken in 1890, this photo is the kind of image we think of when someone mentions poverty.
True in the times of Dickens and still  true today, society has vulnerable people and families who are struggling because of the difficult economic times we live in.  There are organizations called 'food banks' where people who literally have nothing to eat can go to get food aid to help them keep going.

This food is donated by ordinary people and is not fancy - a food parcel may contain some rice, a couple of tins of beans and a loaf of bread.  This food may be the difference between eating and not eating on that day.

The Vicar at All Saints Church in Baschurch keeps a box in his porch for food donations which he regularly takes to the Oswestry food bank.  If you go shopping with Mum or Dad why not ask them to buy an extra couple of tins of value beans or something similar then drop them off at the Vicarage Do this every time you go shopping and you will help a local person to have a meal where there was none.
