National Scout Car Races

It's about time we started thinking about the 2013 racing season, this years car has to be faster, more reliable  and better looking.
For those that are new, last year was our first at National Scout Car Racing and was very successful,  winning most of our races and the coveted Best Engineered Car trophy. The scouts involved is designing and building it, gained Silver with Merit CREST Awards from the British Science Association (Sort of DofE for scientists and engineers), visited Silverstone to watch the Formula Student Motor Racing Event and have qualified for the National Science & Engineering Competition Final in London in March 2013. You can read about the whole project on the Boreatton Racing Blog

The Race Team with Wayne Bulpit - United Kingdom Chief Commisioner
This year we need four new engineers to build the 2013 car, (Last years engineers can come and improve their's if they wish). We can't have more than four because of the risks associated with working with engineering tools, lathes, milling machines, grinders, drills, welders, gas cutting torches etc.
Preference will be given to those who haven't gained a CREST Award before. The NSEC requires you to be at least 11 year old on 31st August 2013 which shouldn't rule out many of you.
Last year we met on a Tuesday night from 7-00 till 9-30 in West Felton, but it could be a Wednesday if that would be better. As race day approaches there will almost certainly be some weekend working, just like a real race team, but we should be better this year!
If you want to have a go let me know ASAP. I've already had 3 people interested but may set a challenge if we have more than four.
