Boreatton Engineering Scalextric Team? We havn't chosen team names yet, but to keep our robo team together and have fun whilst we carry on thinking about the robot design for next year's FLL, we've entered the Scalextric4schools competition.
We get a really good deal for buying some scalextric to play with and get to design and race our own cars. We will be able to use laser cutters and vacuum forming machines from school and we have the 3D design software to design our own cars, and if anyone wants to get into the electronics, we can build our own speed controller with paddle speed shift just like F1.
A couple of the robo team can't make it this term so we probably have a couple of spare places for new robo-scouts - we do robotics and electronics and general techie stuff... Don't need any experience - just enjoy mucking about and making stuff... as Edison said, all you need to invent is imagination and a pile of junk, so we're half way there! We meet at my house (ready access to junk) on a Tuesday evening...
Last year's robo scouts found that whilst they'd been doing the fll competition, they had inadvertently earned Bronze and Silver Crest Awards! (like a DoE for engineers and scientists!)

(looks good on the CV in a few years time!)
