rocking the region

It's a shame they don't do a trophy for noisiest team! (I think they liked our drumming and they definately said that the atmosphere (i.e. noise!) was the best they'd had!)

But whilst we did not win the research or design awards we performed really well in all categories and got through to the semi-finals of the robot game (Hurrah!), and I reckon we could have won overall apart from getting well beaten in the robot game (by a team that got twice as many point as us...)

As it was, we were awarded a prize for consistency and getting high scores in all areas of the competition (that I think means we were runners up). Our robot was capable of getting more points, but we just ran out of development time - an incentive to work at the robot game a bit earlier next year. But very well done to everyone, especially considering that our team was mostly new robo-scouts who hadn't been involved before!

We need to continue to work to make sure our research presentation is finished and looking good for the ORLAU research day, and we will also start work on BERT5e (we know what he'll have to do! Drive quickly round a board and always know precisely where he is and what direction he's pointing, picking stuff up and putting stuff down) We also need to sort out easy-on easy-off attachments...

But meanwhile, well done everyone - I pick the biggest (and hardest) regional tournement 'cos they're most fun and you came away second overall in your first go! Have a good break and we'll arrange to get going again next term!
