District shooting competition

More forms - more paperwork - more fun... it's hard work at the start of term... Don't forget the consent form those that are in the shooting squad (all those that said they wanted to be in either our archery team or rifle squad last year - if you didn't, but want to be in the team next year let me know! We can train you up (I'm a qualified archery leader, air gun instructor, and fencing coach... just don't mess with me!!!) so no prior experience required etc!) Also, it is a scout event so come in uniform with necker - we are team Boreatton!!

Here's the location map, consent form and relevant extract from the firearms act. We need to be there by 2:30 to be ready to shoot at 3pm and expect to be competing until about 5:45pm at 20yd Target archery, Clout archery, and 10m air guns. You've all had a practice and everyone is shooting straight so go out and have fun! I'm afraid I'll be underground at the time so take lots of pics so I can see how you do!
Here's the final instructions!

Shooting event, Sunday 19th October 2010.

FINAL INSTRUCTIONS.

At the bottom of this letter your shooting times are confirmed – also how many participants we understand you are bringing. It would be a great help if you could let us have the following details of all participants as soon as possible. Name, Age group, “Own” or “Supplied” equipment. Also any team groupings.

We attach a permission form that must be completed by all those under 18 if you want to take part in any air rifle shooting. No form, no shooting. No additional paperwork is required for the archery.

I attach directions for getting to the archery field. Follow them carefully – it is not on the beaten track to anywhere. Please arrive at the field about 30mins before you are due to shoot. We will need time to get everyone kitted out with equipment. Your final part of the event will finish approx 2hrs 45mins after your start time.

The field has flush toilets but no other facilities. Bring any food and drink you think you may need while you are at the field.

No prizes will be given out on the 19th. All participants will be informed of the results within a couple of days of the 19th. We request that the top 4 competitors in each archery competition be available to take part in a head-to-head shoot off (12 arrows at 20yards) at the Scouts County Fun day at Stanley Hall, Bridgnorth on Saturday 25th Sept, some time in mid afternoon.

If you have any queries about any of this please contact me as soon as possible either by email or phone. Please could each contingent leader confirm that they have received this document with attachments. If any of your contingent inform you that they cannot come, please inform Jonathan so that we can fill the places from our waiting list.

Look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Regards

Jonathan Walton, Stuart Bett, Tony Pierce, Scott McGill – event organisers.
