Summer camp is a bit problematic this year as I did promise to take our kids to outer Mongolia during the summer hols, and the timetable was propitious for seeing a total eclipse in Novosibirsk, Yaks in Ulaan Baata, and Olympian feats in Beijing, all en route to our new nephew... Basically I'll be elsewhere all the way through the summer hols, and so we have to squish the summer camp in during term and we've only just done last term's camp (which had to be late so the sea was OK for the jet boats (which looked great but I didn't get to have a go!!! not fair!!)). Anyway, it means that the next camps have, of necessity, to be soon, and that in turn has meant that we are constrained in when and how long camp can be. In particular, given the constraints, nobody can put up with 20 of us at once so I will have to organise two mini-camps of half a camp's worth of Boreatton Scouts... First, preference given to younger scouts, will be a canoe rally along the Severn on 27-28 May, and second, preference to APLs,PLs, SPLs and other older scouts, will be a mini DoE style expeditition to S Shrops (where some friends own a remote cottage) on 31 May to 1 June...
