Ro-b'limey

Hurrah!

I must admit that with 10 days to go I was not my usual wildly optimistic self and prey to disconcertingly unfamiliar doubt, but they got it together and showed me that they had been hiding their efforts beneath a facade of bushel loads of seeming unconcern... (Bovvered? not!). However, on the day they all pulled together as a team and everyone contributed to the presentations and supporting the robot game players - great job everyone!

Here's some pics from the day, and if any roboreatteers mail me, I will be able to invite them to view (and download from) my Picasa gallery of the day!

Last minute preps for Bert1e...

...and then into battle!

Strict scrutineering to check out our engineering, but it gradually dawned on us that we were OK, and then that actually we were quite good....(!)...

and we made it to the final! - we had narrowly lost our semi, but went through as second highest score and had to face our nemesis again - it was close and the tension shows...

mistakes were made on both sides...- even the judges had missed one of the items off our competition board and we lost vital seconds, and so were narrowly beaten in the final of the robot game....

But the team's overall consistently great performance in teamwork, research, engineering and inventiveness, together with top scores in the robot game heats, means we go through as regional champions to the national finals in February!!!

Hurrah!!! Bert1e says...
