All Soul's Night

For All Soul's night we (well I actually) thought we would emulate Katherine Dodd's In the Birdhouse installation (http://www.insidethebirdhouse.co.uk/Insidethebirdhouse/Home.html) in homage to her art and any souls still about after the Drum Corps had shown the cubs how much noise you can make in a confined space (lots!) - Cubs seemed to like it so maybe a couple more recruits? (Any cubs watching the blog - just ask Rick to sort it out and you can join us if you can carry the drum)

Anyway - art for the underworld and a constructed reality... I thought smoke and lasers would add a touch of illumination and obscurity - see if you can spot the funded one (and if you're following the blog from Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru, and would like to do some cefnogi creadigrwydd we need a new scout hut (just a thought...))
hmmm - the scouts aren't too good at the 'less is more' approach to art (or anything come to that! - hey they're right more IS more!!!).
Anyway - next events for the prog of the week 5-11 November are:
Weds 7th - Ro-boreateers prepare for a trip to the renewable energy schemes at Walford College. We need to review the energy audit that some of the Roboreateers did today and think about what we want to find out at Walford - we will meet there the following week at 5:30 at the Harris Centre the following Wednesday 14 November.
Thursday 8th - Drum Corps, with a final practice before the Remembrance Parade on Saturday 10th when we will meet in Baschurch at about lunchtime (hmmm.... thats a bit vagure but I haven't been told yet! It will be at about 11:30 and we will prob meet at Roger's - he'll tell us his address on Thurs)
Remembrance Parade is Sunday 11 November and it's the first time for a while that we've had drums and bugle to march to. I am expecting a full turnout for this and all in smart uniform - ironed neckers, badges in place, woggles, poppy etc. Let me know asap if you are missing any kit. We usually meet at 10:15 at the Admiral Duncan car park, and the Drum Corps may meet a bit earlier - check with Roger.
Next Troop Night 9th November is fireworks with the cubs where we celebrate thwarting the plot to overthrow parliamentary democracy and the will of the people, 402 years ago. We will adopt the traditional approach of firing rockets and burning effigies and, as Boreatton Park are less keen on such things, we will hold the meeting at my place. Cubs will provide bangers (edible) and we will help supervise the younger ones with sparklers. Rick and I will manage the bigger fireworks. I will let the scouts and cubs wave sparklers around in a managed area, but if parents would rather not let their offspring loose with fireworks then please do come along to keep an eye on them, or let me (scouts) or Rick (cubs) know. Parents – whilst we will follow standard safety precautions, fireworks and fires can be dangerous and so please make sure your scouts are aware of their responsibility to behave safely and set a good example to the cubs. Any parents who want to stay for the meeting will be most welcome.
