Slash and Burn

As part of our general conservation campaign, we are doing some eco-friendly slash and burn farming at Home Farm, Leaton Knolls this week (21-9-07). We meet at 6pm to 9pm at the Car park down the track that crosses the bottom of the walled garden of Garden Cottage. If you are coming along the 5067 from Baschurch you go past my house and Leaton Church, down the dip and up the hill on the other side. At the top on the right is the turn to Home Farm - ignore this and carry on towards Shrewsbury. As you go down the hill after, you will see the Walled Garden on your right. Turn right at the botton of the Garden and follow the track down through the wood to the car park - here's a map!

We will be using axes and bow saws in muddy water so bring a change and expect extreme mud. As we won't see the bottom of the pond you need to have reasonably stout shoes that give some protection but which won't be needed for shopping on Saturday (or anything else - ever!). Also clothes suitable for mud wallowing...

On a more civilised note, I checked out Wilderhope Manor over the w/e - at the opposite extreme of scout camping to Oswestry Showground last time I think!
