Ad astra

Last night was rocketry night as part of the work towards the astronautics badge. A big thanks to Sean, Alan and Paul, three RSOs (Range Safety Officers) from Midland Rocketry who came over and helped us and talked a bit about the hobby.

We glued together 24 Catapult Rocket Kits and 7 scouts, painted 22.5 completed rockets and about 2.4 scouts and 1 tree, and launched 23 rockets! Great evening except for one badly bruised foot due to flying table (its never the ones in the Risk Assessment) Hope it's feeling a bit better by now and thankfully it was only a bruising and no broken bones....
If you want to find out more about rocketry check out www.midlandrocketry.org.uk or come along to one of the launch days with me.

Here's a pic of Hawk2 (22nd launch of the evening)

The Aeronautics badge? How cool is that?! The Fireman (probably now renamed the Firefighter) badge was my favourite (and one of only about three I managed in 4 years as a scout). The local fire brigage are usually happy to help with that one - all being closet pyromaniacs, plus they have all the right equipment!
